The Parish and Community of Castel, Guernsey
Landfill Site - St Germain Quarry The parish has had one major quarry which was used initially for 'pink' gravel, then for stone and eventually as a landfill site. The site now filled is to be used as a sports field for Castel Primary School, and also as a Parish amenity. A green lane runs along the side of the site to the West which was re-instated during 2002 - see below
During the stacking of soil, this site took on the appearance of a local 'Ayers Rock" in the early morning sunlight.
